In December of 2013 my world was turned upside down. I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer with metastasis to bones and lymph nodes. I was terrified, in shock, and went into depression. I underwent treatment.
During those dark times Mixxedfit became my outlet. Dancing and getting lost in the music always lifted my spirit and enabled me to get in touch with my body to help it heal. It helped me find myself again. In March of 2014, I became a licensed Mixxedfit Instructor.
In 2015, I thought the cancer was going away but I found out I was pregnant and the cancer got worse. Doctors told me to abort pregnancy and start treatment asap or I wouldn't make it and neither would my baby. We refused to listen to the doctors. In September of 2015, I delivered a healthy baby boy! Immediately after giving birth, I resumed treatment and had surgery. By the Grace of God, I've been cancer free since 2016!
Mixxedfit has changed my life. The love and support I received from our Mixxedfit family is amazing. I found a sisterhood, lifelong friendships and a love for dance that I never knew existed. For my sisters or brothers who may be on their own cancer journey, please no matter how hard it is, STAY STRONG, NEVER LOSE HOPE, and HAVE FAITH because miracles happen every day!
