I am usually in tune with my body so around August of 2016, getting myself prepared for my yearly mammogram ,I stumbled upon a lump. I thought nothing of it because my breast are dense( per my dr). September came and I did my breast exam like usual and
The lump was still there.. so I began to worry.. I made my appointment but I missed it because my cousin had died and I was traveling. Therefore I had to wait til October before I could see the doctor.. During my visit I preceded to tell my dr that my breasts were very sore. Her response was, well they say breast cancer doesn't hurt. So not to worry to much. My dr schedule my mammogram and an ultra sound.. The X-ray doctors stated you may want to get a biopsy and asked me did they say anything last year about my mammogram . I said No..He scheduled the biopsy and a week later December 8, 2016... I heard those dreadful words..You have a rare tumor called Medullary Carcinoma aka BREAST Cancer (stage 1b). At first it was a blur.. I had him to repeat himself...when I got myself together.. I was like so what's the next step.. He said surgery then chemo and radiation and a bi-lateral mastectomy . On December 20, 2016, I had my first surgery and on January 17, 2017, I had my second surgery. On January 18, 2017, I had my first of 5 rounds of chemo... God only give his strongest, the hardest battles because he know we can handle them .. has been my motto throughout this journey.. it is not finish but I can see the finish line.. I am currently waiting for my bi-lateral mastectomy and I just found out I have to have a hysterectomy as well. But GOD .. he has me. Have I been scared? Have I question God? Do I worry? The answer is yes.. But my faith in God is what keeps me fighting..
During my treatment when I felt down I remember what Lori had told us when I first got certified for Mixxedfit and she said we are people inspired ..during my down days I would always look at Mixxedfit Choreo and I would sometimes try to attend class as brightened my day.I am forever grateful for my fitness community when they came together and did a fundraiser for me.. The love and support that was shown Had me crying tears of joy to know that people love me enough to want to share their love for me and with me.. Thank you Mixxedfit for inspiring me...
